Every bottle we sell traces back to one man's kitchen table and a truck full of herbs.
In 1980, Michael James graduated from Dominion Herbal College with a mission that had nothing to do with building a business — he just wanted to help people Western medicine had given up on. So he got a truck and started making house calls.
From then until his passing in 2016, Michael ran a small health clinic in New Mexico, working one-on-one with people and crafting herbal formulas by hand to meet real needs he saw walk through his door. But this was never a one-man effort. Michael and his wife Veronica built it together — so much so that at his funeral, one speaker put it best: it was never just Michael, or just Veronica. Whenever one was mentioned, the other came with them. They were an inseparable team, and together they raised eleven children.
That family has never stopped growing. Grandchildren, then great-grandchildren — new babies join the family every year, carrying Michael's legacy forward. And in a way, our customers have become part of that same story: many of you have grown up on these formulas alongside us, some for decades, passing them down through your own families the way Michael once did.
This wasn't a business the family watched from the sidelines — it was one they built by hand. Veronica filled capsules ten at a time in the early years, with little ones underfoot. As the family grew, so did the work: kids answering phones, filling capsules by the hundreds, working in the clinic, helping serve the small mom-and-pop stores Michael insisted on selling through.
Today, that same family carries the torch forward. People who worked with Michael for years will tell you his formulas worked because of the love that went into every capsule. That's also why he started making his own formulas in the first place — store shelf products weren't fresh enough. It's why we still intentionally keep our inventory low today. Freshness, and love, have always been part of the formula
Every formula we make was developed by Dr. Michael E. James, C.H., M.H. — a Chartered and Master Herbalist trained at Dominion Herbal College, the oldest school of herbal medicine in North America. He didn't come to this work through business. He came to it after a hospital stay that nearly went badly, and spent the next thirty years working one-on-one with people who were still looking for something that would help.
